Featured General Far Cry 5 (Ubisoft)

  1. Ubisoft have just released a set of Far Cry 5 teaser trailers which seems to reveal the games setting. The trailer which is titled “Welcome to Hope County” features a body floating down stream in Montana USA. It doesn’t show much more than that to be honest but at least we now know where the game is set. Towards the end of the video, we can also see that the world-wide reveal will be this Friday (May 26th) so I assume we will get a load more information then. Check out the teasers below -

  2. I don't know how they are going to make it fresh but the tone of the teasers is excellent, so I'm very interested to see what comes out on Friday.
  3. I genuinely don't see how they're going to make another Far Cry and make it feel new. I'm hoping i'm wrong, FC3 brought me so many good moments. FC4 was too much of the same and Primal was the right move, but still too similar. If they change it up too much, it won't be a FC game. And if they're making substantial changes, why not call it something else?
  4. Can't expect anything new to come from Ubisoft to be honest. Once a game of theirs gets some traction on the market the goal is to repeat this to make as much money as possible, its a sad fact.
  5. We have our first look at Far Cry 5 along with a few early details.

Ubisoft has just released the CG reveal trailer for the next Far Cry game: Far Cry 5.

We now know that Hope County, the place referenced in the marketing materials, is the fictional Montana town where the game will be set. The group we were shown earlier this week on the game’s main art, is the militia that controls this town.

Known as the Project at Eden’s Gate, the group is led by Joseph and his Heralds. Gameplay-wise, the entire campaign can be played in two-player co-op. Also, for the first time in series history, there’s no default protagonist, which means you’ll get to create your own character. Ubisoft promises the “the largest customisable weapon and vehicle roster”.

Far Cry 5 also features aerial dogfights. Hunting and gathering resources will return, but the biggest surprise is that the map editor will also be included. Details about the editor are slim at the moment, but the news will sure delight series fans.

The main character, whom you’ll be playing as, is a local deputy tasked with arresting Joseph. Few details about the story and gameplay were shared when we went to see the game this week, though Ubisoft promised to reveal more in drips throughout the year.

E3 is also when we expect to see actual gameplay, so keep an eye out for that.

Far Cry 5 is out February 27, 2018 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

  6. Some more details have emerged. These Far Cry 5 character vignettes give you a small glimpse at some of the residents of Hope County

The video you see above introduces you to Mary May, a bartender who along with other civilians from all walks of life have joined the resistance against the doomsday cult in Far Cry 5. Her reason for wanting to wipe them from the fce of the earth is extremely personal.

Mary May runs the Whistling Beaver saloon, and is determined to protect her business from Project at Eden’s Gate. She’s prepared to use her booze against them, by creating Molotov cocktails.

Pastor Jerome Jeffries is another NPC, and he can’t seem to get the word of God proper across to the Eden’s Gate converts. So, he puts the Bible down, grabs some weapons and is prepared to use them. Apparently, he didn’t take having his church destroyed too well.

The third video introduces you to Nick Rye, a pilot who has a minigun attached to his plane. He will do what he can to attack the cult from the air with a rain of bullets.

  7. Trailer looks good, and an interesting setting with a Branch Davidian type end times cultists. Looking forward to some gameplay action
  8. It actually looks okay, from the little we've seen so far. Wish they'd just stuck with Christian nut-jobs instead of creating some cult. Truth is stranger, and sometimes more sinister, than fiction.
  9. That actually looks like an interesting departure from the previous games. Excited to see how it turns out. Never give Ubisoft any of my "Day 1" money though on principle. Can happily wait to pick this up when it's cheaper. Will be keeping any eye on it.
  10. Last month, publisher Ubisoft and developer Ubisoft Montreal revealed Far Cry 5 with an official announcement trailer, that confirmed that Ubisoft was taking its popular Far Cry series to a place it never had been before: the United States.

In the first-person shooter open-world game, you’re facing off against an armed, radical cult based within Christianity called The Project at Eden’s gate, who have sunk their claws through violence and indoctrination into Hope County, Montana, where the game takes place.

Set in modern times, you play as a protagonist who is a junior deputy police officer in the fictional Hope County, Montana. Players will find that their arrival accelerates a years-long silent coup by a fanatical doomsday cult, called Project at Eden’s Gate. Quickly the county breaks into a violent take over between a resistance group and the cult. Your job: to help liberate the Hope County community and themselves.

All of that being said, today during Ubisoft’s E3 2017 presser not only was a new trailer released, but the gameplay was unveiled for the first time.
