General E3 2017: News, Rumours, Reviews

  1. Technically, E3 2017 begins on Tuesday, June 13th. However, this is just the floor show. In the days leading up to Tuesday, many publishers hold presentations to reveal all of the big titles on which they're working. Now, that presentation lineup is confirmed. Take a look at the table below to see who you should be watching and when you should be watching them.

    EA June 10th 20:00 BST
    Microsoft June 11th 22:00 BST
Bethesda June 12th (EU) 03:00 BST
    Ubisoft June 12th 21:00 BST
Sony June 13th (EU) 02:00 BST

EA has already revealed a lot of their upcoming titles. We know that Star Wars Battlefront II, a new Need for Speed title, Madden NFL 18, FIFA 18, NHL 18, NBA LIVE 18 and a new UFC title are all on their way within the next 12 months and they're all likely to be at the show.

Microsoft took the surprising decision to move their E3 presentation to the Sunday to avoid congestion. Unsurprisingly, the upcoming Project Scorpio will be on stage although Phil Spencer has confirmed that the console will not be dominating the presentation. Instead, there will be a focus on games, especially Scorpio's launch lineup. We know that Halo 6 will not be at E3 but State of Decay 2 most definitely will be, while Crackdown 3 and Sea of Thieves have also been confirmed for release this year. Spencer also teased "some things that we haven't talked about yet", so prepare for some surprises.

Bethesda has dubbed their presentation Bethesdaland. They've promised a night full of fun and games where people can mingle and see their new projects. The night will end with a "live musical performance from a top-secret act". Of all of the publishers, they're the one that has managed to keep the most tight-lipped about what they're planning. The only hints that you'll get are in the following image.

Ubisoft was the last of the publishers to confirm their E3 presentation. At the same time, they also dropped teasers for Far Cry 5, The Crew 2 and a new Assassin's Creed title.

  3. Everything Shown During EA Play at E3 2017

With titles like Fifa 18, Madden 18, and Star Wars: Battlefront II, it seems fitting that Electronic Arts and their ‘EA Play’ show kick off the festivities at this year’s E3 2017. Andrew House started the event by boasting “eight new experiences” that gamers should be excited about. House then highlighted an extended 30-minute look at Star Wars: Battlefront II, citing that the publisher addressed some of the opportunities (criticisms) that players had with the first title.

Coincidently, EA also took a moment out of its press conference to highlight the upcoming ‘Project Scorpio’ citing that the hardware is “coming at the right time”. Check out more from Star Wars: Battlefront II, Fifa 18 and the rest of the day’s unveilings and announcements below.

Madden 18 Gets ‘Longshot’ Trailer Showcasing the Game’s New Story Mode

EA Sports is bringing story to this year’s Madden 18 and shows players what to expect with its ‘Longshot’ trailer.

In the new trailer, which clocks in at 1 minute and 8 seconds, we get to see the latest addition coming to Madden; a story mode. The short reveal trailer takes us on a brief narrative journey of Devon Wade, a football player for the University of Texas as he goes on his journey to be drafted into the NFL.

The addition of a proper story mode in Madden has been a highly requested feature that fans have been wanting for quite some time now. Given the massive success and praise of the story mode presented in FIFA 17, it’s no surprise that Madden 18 is getting the proper story mode treatment. Last month, Electronic Arts announced that Tom Brady would be on the cover of Madden 18.

No other information was given on the game’s new story mode, but what we can definitely expect from it is a brand new explosive narrative, all told through the beautiful Frostbite Engine. Madden 18 is the first game in the Madden series to utilize the new engine and it looks absolutely gorgeous.

Madden 18 will come in two versions; the standard version of the game and the G.O.A.T Edition. The latter version of Madden 18 will give players the ability to play the game 3 days early before the official release date of August 25, 2017. In addition to playing the game early, players will also get 1 elite player from their favorite NFL team, 2,500 contracts, an Ultimate Team uniform pack, 1 of 5 elite G.O.A.T. players, and 12 Madden Ultimate Team squad packs.

The game is said to contain memorable action moments, car chases, stealth passages, melee fights, shootouts, and many more.

The developer also confirmed that the choices you make in the Street play will directly affect you in League play. Players will also be able to completely customize their character. More details on this new feature will arrive in the future according to EA.

EA Tiburon also announced that a demo for the title will be coming in August. And best of all, your progress will carry over into the full game. No other details about the demo, like what it will entail, what exact date it will drop, or what platforms it will be available on, were announced.

NBA Live is the rival to 2K’s NBA 2K18 in the basketball simulation space, though EA in recent years has largely trailed behind 2K, as the last few instalments have been fumbled, and been not preferred to the NBA 2K series.
