  1. Battlefield 5 could be heading to back to the past, as a German retailer has listed the game as a “multiplayer tactical shooter” set during World War 1.

The listing gives the game a release date of October 26 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said the shooter would “return to a Battlefield military-style game,” a few years ago, so perhaps EA are being true to their word.

We all know Battlefield 5 is in the works. EA said as much, but has failed to provide details.

  2. Battlefield 5 world premiere scheduled for May 6

A countdown page has popped up on the Battlefield website announcing the date and time for the world premiere of Battlefield 5.

As well as the premiere of the game, there will also be a developer panel, and the entire event will provide an “insight into the minds of the developers as you hear from the Creative Director Lars Gustavsson and Lead Producer Aleksander Grondal on the past, present and the future of Battlefield.

“You will be able to join in the conversation as we open the floor to questions from viewers,” EA told VideoGamer.

The event is scheduled for Friday May 6 at 4PM ET/9PM BST and will give us “a first look at the future of Battlefield.”
  3. EA has confirmed that Battlefield 5 will be revealed in full this Friday.

"Join us on May 6 at 4pm ET / 9pm BST for a first look at the future of Battlefield," it says on the Battlefield site.

To see the reveal you'll need to watch the EA live stream on Twitch, which will see Creative Director Lars Gustavsson and Lead Producer Aleksander Grondal give an "insight into the minds of the developers on the past, present and the future of Battlefield."

  4. Battlefield 1 has been announced and as rumours suggest is based on World War 1. The video shown below includes all in-engine footage, and as revealed at the end, you can play it first on Xbox One through EA Access.

During the game you'll fight as infantry or take control of vehicles on land, air and sea, from the tanks and bikes on the ground, to biplanes and gigantic battleships.

  5. Glad it's set in WW1, about time we had a decent WW1 game
  6. Battlefield 1 will be available to players on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One early as Electronic Arts has confirmed a BETA build of the game will be available at some point later this year. There was no mentioned of Battlefield 1 beta during reveal event, however, it was referenced in the official press release that Electronic Arts shared after the end of the event. According to the details posted in the press release, Battlefield Insider will get "early access to the Battlefield 1 public beta."

In order to access Battlefield 1 beta on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, all you need to is just register yourself as a Battlefield INSIDER for free of cost and you will book your seat for the beta testing. Here is the Sign Up page for registering yourself as a Battlefield Insider.

Electronic Arts has not yet shared any details on the release date of the beta, what all content will be included in it and the exclusivity period of the beta for Battlefield Insider. Stay tuned to Gamepur as we will update you with more details on Battlefield 1 beta as it is made available by Electronic Arts.
  7. It looks like the first of Battlefield 1's DLC will be free.

Paid DLC has always been a point of contention in the gaming community, particularly with games like Battlefield.

So it should come as good news that some of the first DLC for Battlefield 1 looks to be free for everyone.

The DLC is listed as part of a pre-order bonus on Origin that grants 7 days early access to the free map drop, which will then presumably become available to all players.

The map will probably release shortly after the game if it's already being listed as an incentive to pre-order, so it's likely to be the first bit of extra content we'll see.
  8. Take a look at this Battlefield 1 teaser, ahead of the big show on Sunday.

We’ve only seen very little bit of Battlefield 1, thanks to the relatively short trailer from a few weeks ago.

Things will change on Sunday, June 12, when EA and DICE will be hosting a 64-player match, to give us a proper look at multiplayer.

To get you amped up until then, DICE released a teaser trailer for some of the action we’re bound to get on that day. The 15-second video claims to be comprised of in-game footage from the Xbox One version. It provides a brief look at a battle from a trench, followed by a scene where a soldier runs across a battlefield while being shot at. With Battlefield 1 focusing more on melee combat than in the past, the soldier manages to avoid being killed and ends up whacking a guy in the face with a trench-raiding club. This all happens from a perspective you wouldn't normally see things from while playing, but it all looks very pretty nonetheless.

    Here it is:
  9. Battlefield 1 has six weapon classes including SMGs and Semi Autos

Battlefield 1 will offer players six categries of primary weapon to choose from, DICE has revealed.

These six categories are shotguns, SMGs, LMGs, semi autos, sidearms and sniper rifles – pretty familiar stuff for most FPS players, despite the relatively unexplored setting. Each of these classes include multiple varieties of weapon, including some of the first successful assault rifles ever made.

Weapons can be customised with up to three pre-set loadouts, rather than attachments. You'll also be able to tweak zoom levels, reticles and more – and apply skins.

In addition to firearms, there are a range of melee weapons, some of which double as tools, and a variety of grenades.

“The weapons of Battlefield 1 are a bit more specialized. To get the most out of them, you have to be aware of their strengths and weaknesses, and use the right one in the right situation,” weapon designer Julian Schimek said in a Q&A on the Battlefield website.

Check out our gallery below for some beautifully designed Battlefield 1 concept art.

Really looking forward to this game and the World War 1 setting.
  10. After seeing the teasers and everything I'm definitely more interested in Battlefield in this years FPS games I think! Excited for it to come out. :)
